Transition to Practice Programs

Far West Local Health District offers a range of Transition to Practice Programs for new graduate Registered Nurses, new graduate Registered Midwives and for Registered Nurses transitioning to specialty practice.

These programs aim to provide you a range of clinical experiences to equip newly graduated RNs and RMs with the necessary skills and confidence to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife. There is a strong focus on the special skills required practicing in rural and remote settings to enhance and consolidate your nursing knowledge and skills.

Our philosophy is that Nurses and Midwives should be nurtured and encouraged to achieve their full potential. The Transition to Practice (RN) Program and Transition to Practice (RM) Program provide a supportive environment through which knowledge consolidation and skill development can occur.
