FwLHD At Family Fun Day In The Park For Naidoc Week Celebration

Everything you need to pursue a healthy lifestyle at Far West LHD stall

Far West LHD at Family Fun Day Broken Hill – Thursday 28 September

Staying healthy, lifestyle changes for the better and opportunities for Aboriginal people to begin a career in health will be promoted by the Far West LHD at the Family Fun Day Broken Hill NAIDOC Week celebrations on Thursday (28 September).

The Far West LHD is joining with the community to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities at the Family Day in Sturt Park on Thursday, 28 September from 10am to 3pm.

The LHD display will be promoting healthy lifestyles and the Staying Healthy program, as well as gathering information from the community and promoting career pathways for Aboriginal people across the health service.

“We hope to raise people’s awareness of how small changes in lifestyle can improve their health and what’s available to support them to do this, such as face to face services and online health coaching services,” said Far West LHD Health Promotion Officer, Rebecca Crawford.

Information, advice and resources will be available about the Staying Healthy program and how to access it, along with the ‘Get Healthy’ online health coaching service, ‘Make Healthy Normal’ and Quitline.

Ms Crawford said the LHD also wants to engage with the community to better understand how they use health services, what they use and why they use them. “We want to know what works and does not work and what would make it easier to them to access and use services and to make changes to their lifestyles.”

LHD Integrated Care Program Consumer Representatives will talk with people about their experiences using health services. The information gathered will help the health service to better understand how people use the health services now,  and find out what would make it easier for people to access and use services and to make positive changes to their lifestyles.

LHD staff will also have information and resources about career pathways across the FWLHD for Aboriginal people. The Far West LHD is committed to increasing its Aboriginal workforce and people interested are encouraged to visit the stall and talk to our Human Resources staff members.

“We hope that people take the opportunity to visit the Far West LHD stall on the day and learn how even the smallest lifestyle change can have the biggest outcomes and all the services and resources available to help them take that first step!” said Ms Crawford.
