The Community Health Centre is a division of Broken Hill Health Service. The Centre is located in the CBD and provides a range of multidisciplinary child, youth and family health services that focus on early intervention and prevention. These include:
- Child and family health nursing service providing home visiting for families following the birth of a baby, child development checks and information, childhood immunisation and 'Drop In' clinics for short consultations.
- The lead health program providing lead testing, information and home assessments as required for children 0-4years to support families minimise their child's exposure to lead.
- State-wide Eyesight Pre-schooler Screening (StEPS) vision screening for 4 year olds.
- Child & family support worker providing case management and service co-ordination for vulnerable families who need extra support.
- Child and adolescent mental health service providing mental health assessment ,counselling and case management for children, young people and their families.
- Women's Health nursing service providing cervical screening, contraception advice, pregnancy counselling and support.
The service is involved in a number of health promotion activities throughout the year. Our goal is to work with families, our service partners and the community to optimise the health and wellbeing of children, youth and families in the Broken Hill community.
